» Project D
Since more people follow the anime more than the manga Project D occurs right after the Initial D Movie. The goal of Project D is quite similar to Ryosuke's previous project, Operation Gunma, which failed due to the races against the 86 of Akina. Like in the Redsuns, Ryosuke is the coordinator and the master strategist of Project D. Project D is another racing team which is coordinated by Ryosuke. Project D is actually also a website for the team so that teams of other regions would challenge them. This site keeps records of the teams they've raced against, and the time records they've broken. The most probable goal of Project D is to accept all challenges given by opposing teams and break every record set in the process so the group woul be known as the best drivers in Japan and have their names become 'Legendary' in the areas they've raced in.

Drivers - The two main drivers in Project D are Keisuke Takahashi and Takumi Fujiwara. A driver for who possess two different driving styles. Keisuke has more of a professional racer whereas Takumi knows all the 'tricks' of the streets. During races, Keisuke is the uphill specialist and Takumi is the downhill specialist. That way, there would always be two races per area.

Other - Ryosuke Takahashi is the strategist for Project D. He is the one who 'coaches' Takumi and Keisuke for their preperation of the races. Hiroshi Fumihiro previously the spokesperson of the Redsuns acts as a 'helper' for Project D. Kenta appears in Project D as a 'Keisuke Supporter'. There are also two mechanics, one for each car, in Project D who help maintain the FD and 86. Their names are Matsumoto and ____ (well the 86 mechanic is Matsumoto but i'm not sure whether the last name is right. I'll come back to this)
