During chapters 237 - 344 of the manga when the story was concentrated on Kakashi's past it is scene numerous times how frightening Yondaime may be in battle. Although they don't actually show him fighting in those chapters of the manga, by just the enemy's and villager's reactions you can easily assume that if Yondaime is the opponent in a fight, he someone who can't be easily dealt with. In other words, if you see a man with bright yellow hair, run.

Rasengan
The Rasengan is not a jutsu move for it does not require any seal sequences for it to be used. Instead it involves the user to father up chakra in the palm of one of their hands which then circulates in a rotating sphere and to the attack with just a simple thurst. The Rasengan is a very powerful technique because it enables the user to control the amount of chakra which is to be used per hit. In other words, it can be used many times without draining the user's chakra if controlled properly, whereas for a similar move such as Kakashi's Chidori which can only be used a limited amount of times a day. According to Jiraiya, the Rasengan took Yondaime three years to learn. In Naruto's case it only took him a few months. |

Summoning
One may recall the scene when Jiraiya gave Naruto a scroll with names of previous ninjas who have signed a blood contract with frogs. Yondaime was also happen to be one of those people. One of the frogs Yondaime had summoned in the past include Gamabunta which he had summoned in his last battle with the Kyuubi. |

Fuuin Justu Shiki Fuujin
Fuuin Justu Shiki Fuujin is a forbidden technique which summons the Shinto God of Death, Shinigami, to the battle field and also the same technique used to seal the Kyuubi. The role of the God of Death is to devour the Victim's soul and it is done by sealing it within a host body. To summon the Shinigami, the user must sacrifice his or her own should in exchange for its help and when the soul is sealed the victim will suffer in the belly of the Shingami without gaining release and while they are to hate and battle with the jutsu user for eternity. Sandaime a varition of this jutsu on Ichidaime, Nidaime, and Orochimaru however instead of sealing their souls in a living body, he sealed it within his own kage bunshin bodies. |

Shunshin no Jutsu [ Body Flicker ]
Shuunshin no Jutsu is a technique which enables Yondaime to move at supernatural speed. For example, when trying to stop Kakashi's Chidori from being counter attacked, Yondaime utilized this technique to save him and also sneak behind the enemy for suprise attack within mere seconds. |

Special Kunais
Oddly shaped and heavier than regular kunais, Yondaime's special Kunais are 'special' in such the way that it alerts him whenever the kunai is thrown. In other words, it makes him aware of his friends, who he's given these kunais to, when they are in danger. These special kunais when simultaneously used in numerous quantities is just the groundwork for one of Yondaime's techniques named "Konoha's Yellow Flash". Kakashi was given one of these on the day he officially became a jounin. |

"Konoha's Yellow Flash"
Konoha's Yellow Flash, probably not the real name of the technique but rather a description of how it looks like, is a technique which gave Yondaime a nickname of the same name. Although only the preparations of this technique was shown in the manga, assembling many special kunais in an area, one can assume that this technique is brutal enough to massacre an entire army in a blink of an eye. |
