± Kakashi's "Way of the Ninja"
Shortly after they graduated from Nina Academy Team 7's Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura was put to the test by Kakashi and prove that they are worthy of becoming a genin. Those who pass will become genin, however those who fail will return back to the Ninja Academy. To make things worse, the failure rate for the genin exam happened to be over 66%.
During the genin exam, Team 7 was to get two bells which are tied on Kakashi's waist before noon. If they
were to not be able to get the two bells, they would have no lunch. The problem
with this exam that since there are two bells and two lunches, one student would be guaranteed to fail the exam. The failing student(s) will be tied onto a tree stump, and Kakashi will also eat infront of them.
While Naruto was doing the Genin exam, Iruka, a teacher of the Ninja Academy, was worried about a horrific rumor which he heard about previous students who did their Genin exams under Kakashi. So, he went to ask the Hokage for more information and to Iruka's suprise, the rumor of Kakashi failing every single person who took his exam was true. The reason for all the failures was because Kakashi is a great supporter of teamwork. Having only two bells available during the exam was to test whether the members of the team are willing to willing to risk their lives for the sake of their duties. According to Kakashi, those who break the Ninja rules are trash, however those who do not consider their comrades are lower than trash. Kakashi's ideas on teamwork may also be associated with what happened to him in the past. While Team 7 was being tested Kakashi mentioned a few things: Basics in shinobi fighting
