‡ THE SAKURAZUKAMORI CLAN
The onmyouji clan Seishiriou belongs to is the Sakurazukamori clan. The Sakurazukamori clan, like the Sumeragi clan, also uses magic but instead of using sorcery to help they use sorcery to kill. The clan consists of many clients and collabortors therefore is often described as a group. However, the clan virtually consists of only one person, the Sakurazukamori. The Sakurazukamori asassins are known for their lack of emotion. They are taught or grew up not knowing how to to differentiate objects and humans. To them, killing a person is no different than breaking a glass cup. The lack of a emotional heart is what drives the asassins to fearlessly kill victim after victim witout the sense of guilt afterwards. Although the lack of emotion benefits these asasssins, the realization of a emiotional heart is their weakness. Like the Sumeragi clan, the Sakurazuka clan also has a succession ceremony. To become the next Sakurazukamori you must eliminate or in otherwords, kill the predecessor and their entourage.
The Sakura tree - The Sakura burial mound which Seishirou feeds his victims to. The blood of the victims is what makes the Sakura blossoms pink.
Onmyouji - An person who is called a onmyouji is a 'ying-yang magician'. In Tokyo Babylon and X there are two kinds of Onmyoujis. Onmyoujis who use their powers for 'good' for example exorcism and onmyoujis who use their onmyoujutsu powers for killing.
The fight scenes in both Tokyo Babylon and X are quite different. Tokyo Babylon seems to be more of a psychological fight, and in X it seems to be more physical. Ofudas and shikigami of different strengths are also used at a greater extent in X. Perhaps it is because Seishirou is to fight not only Subaru who is an onmyouji, but people who posses different powers such as the elements, or telepathic.
Chants - Both Subaru and Seishirou do chants for spells throughout both Tokyo Babylon and X. Many different chants are chanted throughout both series and depending on which chants Subaru or Seishirou chants they can be used in many different ways. For example a chant can reverse a chant which is chanted by a person.
Shikigami - Shikigamis are spiritual birds which Seishirou uses to watch things from afar, to hunt, or to attack people. Shikigamis are cannot be seen however you can see their shadows. A shikigami Seishirou uses is a falcon (?). It is known that in ancient Japan the japanese practice falconry, hunting wild prey with trained hawks. Falconry was also practiced by European nobles but lost popularity when people started developing effective sporting guns.
Ofuda - The ofudas Seishirou uses are black peices of paper with inverted pentagrams on one side. Sometimes Seishirou uses his ofudas to change them into black birds/crows to attack his enemies.
Maboroshi - An illusion. Seishirou usually 'traps' his victims in an illusion while he is fighting/killing them. Seishirou has the ability to make the illusion stronger so that intruders cannot enter. For example in X, Seishirou's second encounter with Kamui of the Dragon of Heaven. In an illusion Seishirou can also show scenes of their past. For example when Seishirou shows the past that was hidden that was unknown to Subaru.
