The last major event which finally led the unveilment of Seishirou's true self was when Seishirou jumped in to protect Subaru from a overly stressed mother who tried knifing him at the Shinjuku hospital. While protecting Subaru, Seishirou had his right eye slashed in the process rendering him to lose sight in his right eye. During this time, Subaru realized what Seishirou truely meant to him. He didn't know how much he liked and appreciated his company until then. While at the hospital after Hokuto's confrontation to Seishirou regarding her beliefs that Seishirou was hiding something, Seishirou realized that he had kept his secret long enough and decided to unveil his true self to Subaru the next time he visited him at the hospital. It was finally time for them to fulfill their promise.
Seishirou's final confrontation with Subaru in Tokyo Babylon occured in an illusion which was created by Seishirou in his room at the hospital. In the illusion, Seishirou explains to Subaru who he really was and also gave back the memory which he erased from their first confrontation seven years earlier. Seishirou claimed that he did not feel anything for Subaru. Just on the verge of dying, Subaru's grandmother sent a shikigami to save him. Seishirou realized that time was running low and decided to speed things up however, by that time Subaru's grandmother was already in the process of breaking Seishirou's illusion spell. Instead of killing Subaru, Seishirou had decided to leave but before he left, for breaking his illusion spell, Seishirou rendered the legs of Subaru's grandmother useless making her wheelchair ridden.
After seeing what had happened to Subaru and their grandmother, Hokuto, believing that it was her fault that Subaru is heart broken and betrayed, put matters into her own hands by confronting Seishirou. Believing that if Seishirou really was the Sakurazukamori
he would come back to kill Subaru. Hokuto did all she could in her power to prevent this from happening. By doing this, Hokuto sacrificed her life for both the safety of Subaru and Seishirou. Even though Seishirou was an evil man she still wanted to protect him. By being killed by
Seishirou, Hokuto invoked a special technique on Seishirou which only she could use before her death. The mechanism of her final technique was explained to Seishirou by Hokuto while she was dying in his arms. If Seishirou were to kill Subaru the same way he killed Hokuto, Hokuto's curse would
reflect everything onto Seishirou making him the victim rather than the killer. (note that Subaru doesn't know the mechanism of Hokuto's curse until vol.16 of X!)
