≫ PRINCESS

PrincessAt first glance, Sakura can be described as a pretty teen: small and fragile save the bold shade of her hair. Her code of dress is richly colored and with a distinctly eastern flavor that gives her an edge bordering exotic. Once seen in motion, however, it is obvious that she is not at all concerned with maintaining whatever air her dress and figure impose; she just wants to enjoy life.

Carefree and radiating innocence, Sakura hardly fits the snobbish mold of royalty. Although it is not to be misunderstood that she is completely without her moments of frustration -- specifically with her brother Touya's zealous protection of her -- Sakura's primary quirk is her abounding kindness and generosity. The needs of others are always her top priority, and she even goes so far as to sneak out from under the security of King Touya's eye to visit a recently orphaned friend.

The forth-mentioned friend is the recipient of most of Sakura's energy; Syaoran is the son of a respected (and now late) archeologist and the object of Sakura's affection. In reality, both are very much in love with the other, though neither has the courage to confess. Nevertheless, Sakura works within this intimate friendship with all the love she can muster, even if she wishes it could be more direct than the subtle gestures of packing a lunch or recalling a childhood memory.

However, all of the drama of a teenager's potential love life is currently dwarfed by an attack on the castle -- predominately its young princess. Her wings, her powers, and her memories are stolen, making Sakura somewhat of a modern sleeping beauty. Sakura's fate rests entirely in the hands of Syaoran who has set off to reclaim her wings one feather at a time. Until he does so, however, the once vibrant young girl lies waiting as nothing more than an empty shell.
