≫ STONE - DIAMOND
The word "diamond" is derived from the Greek word for "indestructible", "adamas." As one of the hardest natural formations to grace the earth, the diamond has become a symbol of strength and invincibility for centuries. Ironically, it has also developed into a timeless representation of love. Everything from their origin to their purpose has been romanticized throughout history. Ancient tales suggest that the gems are actually broken splinters of stars, and others attribute their discovery to Alexander the Great. In actuality, however, the stones are formed over a grueling process spanning millions of years - enduring intense heat and high pressures before being eased up to river beds and the sea floor. As for their use: once exclusively adorned by kings and their spouses, diamonds were an accessory that marked one as royalty. Although it has not lost its elegant appeal, many people now associate the stone with affectionate gifts between lovers - whether it be treasured earrings or a traditional engagement ring. All in all, I believe the diamond is a fitting birthstone for Sakura. Her recent dabble in royal affairs aside, Sakura is loving by nature and ready to give her care to anyone who is in need of it. Most importantly the diamond, like Sakura, is indestructible - a physical representation of her promise that everything will be all right. uch like the name analysis, there are some things that fit and others that seem to have nothing to do with Sakura. Despite being very determined, I would not consider Sakura to be one to hold grudges; although there is her constant rivalry with her brother, Sakura is quick to forgive everyone from Syaoran to the mischievous Clow Cards. |
