Name : Intermezzo #7. Intermezzo. Well there are two types. Opera and instrumental. The plural form is intermezzi. I wanted something fancy and music like and this was the first thing I thought of. I originally wanted "a world called castastrophe" as the title. The other possibility was "this is where the world drops off". As you can see they are very long. The reason why I put #7 should be a apparent.
Since the fanlisting has opened, while watching television I realized that there's a type of pizza named Intermezzo (a microwave pizza to be exact.) and that makes me sad!

› WHY?
YES! I have a legitimate reason for owning this fanlisting. (why?) Why? seriously? Never would I thought that I'd own a Final Fantasy related fanlisting. To tell you the truth, I don't like parading around my videogame fandoms around in public. That is until recently. It seems more or less bandwagon jumping after the initial Advent Children announcements and when the movie actually came out. Back in my obnoxious early teen glory days I'd prefer playing games over doing homework. I remember the day when I went grocery
shopping with my dad and he showed me the Final Fantasy 7 game. He said that he was going to get it because "it was really good" according to magazines. I recall telling him not to buy it, but did he listen? That was the end of it.
Final Fantasy 7 was actually my first rpg ever. I'd wake up at 6am to play play it. On other occasions, I'd play it for more than eight hours until my eyes start twitching. I had no idea what the main plot of the game was about other than Sephiroth but I kept playing anyways. That was how obsessive I was with the game. I wrote fics, I drew fanart, and so on. My hands were shaking during the final battle against Sephiroth. I remember it was a Saturday afternoon and I was home alone. I wanted to pee my pants because I was so scared. It
was the final boss after all? Heck, I even called my dad while he was at work when I actually beat both of Sephiroth's final forms. This was basically my life when I was 12. It was pretty pathetic if you ask me.
Why Final Fantasy VII of all things? There's something called 'nostalgia'. When you listen to the music of this game it is distinctive compared to many others. Some of the pieces featured such as J-E-N-O-V-A and Kata Tsubasa no Tenshi were just plain odd. Others such as Aeris' theme was both sentimental and emotional. The battle theme, possibly one of the most overlooked songs in the entire ost was interesting also. Especially when you play a completely different game and you become stunned by how it's the battle theme isn't the Final Fantasy 7 one. Perhaps it's just me.
There is something called "disctintiveness" and then there is the Advent Children soundtrack. I watched the movie by myself the first time, the second with one of my cousins, and the third with my father. The first time I watched it I became estatic over the ost because of the familiarity of certain songs. I was expecting completely new songs, but instead it was a mix. So, I thought perhaps it'd be a good idea to watch it with someone. My cousin probably wasn't the greatest choice since I had to explain the entire Final Fantasy 7 story to her when the last time I played the game was about five years before. It just didn't work. Telling her that "that song" was the J-E-N-O-V-A song didn't work. Then there was my father. Initially he didn't want to watch it but after about four months of nagging he
finally gave in. Although he didn't really comment on the music itself, I could tell he recognized a few of the songs. Like that scene when Loz's (the 'manlier' one) cellphone went off my dad suddenly said "oh Tifa won!" because Loz's cellphone ring was the victory jingle from the game.
The reason for this is because I have a affinity towards Nobuo Uematsu's music. To be exact, the Final Fantasy VII. It was this ost in particular that made me realize what I wanted to persue as as career. I remember clearly telling my mother that I wanted to play in the same orchestra that records Final Fantasy music when I was younger and her telling me that it'd probably be nearly impossible for the way I played the violin back then. Since then, I've played in many orchestras locally, provincially,
and nationally. In addition, I was also accepted as a Bachelor of Violin student at the University which I attend. And, all that was influenced from a mere videogame ost...
