Sesshoumaru's outfit consists of basically what a man in his era would wear. His clothes may seem clothes may seem more fancier than most characters in the series because, like humans of that time, he is an aristocratic demon of higher ranking.
Sesshoumaruo's kimonos are mainly white, but it has a bright red hexagonal pattern with a white flower design on his left sh oulder and on both sleeves. His kimono appears to be two layers. The amount of layers worn in a kimono depends on the persons liking. The bottom part of Sesshoumaru's kimono is pant like and is called a hakama. In Sesshoumaru's case, his hakama is actually a field hakama which is easier to manoever in than the others.
The armour which Sesshoumaru wears is somewhat similar to that of Sango's. It is dark in color and covers his abdominal area of his body. The armour is secured with a brightly colored obi which is adorned with a water pattern. The material of the obi appears to be very strong for Sesshoumaru is able to place the unsheathed Tokujin there.
On Sesshoumaru's right shoulder lies his infamous and yet rather stylish piece of random fur. The origins of this fur is not known however it is most likely something to symbolize what he looks like in his true form (canine form) for when he is in canine form he also has "excess" fur running down his chest and right shoulder. Perhaps Sesshoumaru hulls it around the fur in his humanoid form as a warning to other demons and humans to tell them that he is not what he appears to be.

For example in colored manga pictures and art books the design on his kimono and obi differ between pictures but in th ean ime the red design on the the kimono and the blue and yellow obi remain constant.
