» EXEUNT » SITE HISTORY
I never intended to make a ZAN site, ever. But after finally getting all their available singles and albums I decided that this group needed 'more'. Even my Japanese friends do not know of them until I told them about ZAN. They don't have many promotional videos and they don't go on tour alot either. In general they're a pretty obscure group if you're not familiar with this type of music.

So why? why this? I have no idea why. I just respect the members of ZAN for what they do because what they do was what I had aspired to do before certain events occured. They are inspirational figures to me in what I do. I think, another thing to add on as reasoning is that I really don't see the members of ZAN as big shot celebrities. I do not see them at all like celebrities. I am a musician, I have been playing the violin for over thirteen years, and piano for almost ten years. I am also a former pre-professional violinist but decided to step down due to certain predicaments. In all my experience, I don't see the members of ZAN any different than my past music teachers, and my superiors. The only difference is that ZAN is signed onto a AVEX label, they live in Japan, I don't personally know them, and that's it.

And now, why Japanese music? Japanese music, to me, isn't something I suddenly found when the internet was first established, but rather it gives me a certain sense of nostalgia. When I was younger, after my mother came back from her trip to Asia, which also included Japan, my father started listening to Mayumi Itsuwa's '82 Collection cassette tape on repeat for many years. Then proceeded to teach himself Japanese. Along with Japanese music, I also grew up listening to Chinese music which was rather odd because as a child I liked Japanese music more but never really told anyone about it.

Language use and other things?
Language use will be as followed. To be polite, their last name will be used when I refer to specific members. For example, Sunagawa-san instead of Norikazu. Some updates will be written in Japanese on the index page because I like it that way?

Firstly, I do not wish to invade the ZAN member's privacy. Thus when it comes to member profile information, whatever is stated on their Official website and other official sources will be as far as I go for personal information. Why? Are they not human? Personally I find that certain entertainment magazines, shows, and websites to be quite nosey when it comes to any celebrity's personal lives.

Why Zenith and Nadir?
This should be easy considering that i'm bad at naming websites. What does ZAN stand for?

Why ZAN? and a fanlisting?
Like I wrote earlier in this page, the members of ZAN are like inspirational figures to me and I think that says just enough. Perhaps it feels a bit lonely because it feels as if i'm the only person who knows of them? So, if I made this I may meet other people who also love ZAN as much as I do. I decided to get a fanlisting, because I remember when I first introduced Janice/仲間 to ZAN she said she was disappointed that there wasn't a fanlisting for them or something along those lines. After receiving the last few ZAN releases in the mail to complete my collection, I decided that I should perhaps do something for them? Well, since I have many fanlistings no one joins, why not? It's good exposure for ZAN since most of the hits to this site are from the 'Z' page of the fanlistings so why not? Why not let the curiosity of "what kind of groups and bands have a name that start with 'Z'" take its toll? Brilliant isn't it?

Current Layout
What you see before you is possibly 'really different' that the things I tend to do in layouts. Change is sometimes good, and I was experimenting with brushes and what not. Here is what I came up with. There is the usual 'sworls' on the layout, they're quite faint and they're hand drawn. There is also subtle use of a pattern found at SquidFingers. It's not noticable unless I point it out. Yes, that's pretty much it. I can't come up of much when this is a by-product of 'layout-block'. Simplism and lead to inspiration? One more thing, for some reason, this layout loads slowly on Internet Explorer. Mozilla FireFox seems to be fine though.
